Movement Study Task 1, 2 and 3

Task 1:

Learning about the Arthrometric model was interesting for me, I tended to notice what movement was coming from my hips and shoulders in the central zone. When running around the room, I was practising articulating my feet (using my metatarsals, hinge joint) and the gliding joints in my feet. I find that knowing the terminology for different parts of your body helps to image them when moving.
I didn't fully know what to notice or understand the purpose.
Learning about the radial symmetry was informative, ie; elbows and knees are biaxial, cannot alter direction but can offer full range in movement, and the joints from the knees to the ankles are triaxial, as are joints from elbow to hand.

It's quite complicated and would take a few physical exercises of exploration, to fully grasp.

Task 2:

It was interesting to learn about the ribs because I didn't know much about the anatomy of how the ribs were formed. When carrying out the rib task, I found that my sternum is alot smaller in length than I imagined or thought it to be. Also to discover the 'floating ribs' at the base of the ribs was interesting as I didn't know they didn't have support off the sternum, and went off at a tangent. In my own ribs there's not alot of space inbetween each bone. They're also quite small.

Task 3:

Approaching the 'Iliopsoas' task of the Sitbacks was unusual. I'd never heard of what they were, and to find that they were 3 muscles that attaches along the 5th lumbar vertebrae of the spine was intriguing. Throughout the task, I was trying to imagine the joint connecting the legs to the pelvis and the spine. I found it easier to relax my abdominal muscles when lifting up off the floor, and noticed when trying to lift up off the ground, I forgot to breathe almost everytime. It took a few attempts to breathe and relax when lifting up to stop my abs bulging. I think this is a hard discipline to master and would need more time on this to acheive.
The Iliopsoas is composed of three muscles, with the psoas and iliacus muscle.
